That is like getting a reward for a Toontask for completing it halfway. You cannot remove part of the problem and have the other part stay.
Toontown Rewritten does not OWN Toontown. Toontown is a copyrighted work by Disney.
The main counterargument people bring up is that the reason why Toontown Rewritten does not add the classic characters to the game is because of the same word I hear all the time: "copyright." Well, allow me to explain something: The whole game is copyright. Lastly, if you're going to have like 2 of the characters stay (Minnie and Clarabelle) and have Doctor Surlee literally be Gyro Gearloose then there is literally no reason to not go all the way and just add everybody. If you are trying to bring people into Toontown, they're gonna think things make literally no sense when you don't have the characters in the game in those areas but their faces and names are plastered everywhere and things like a self driving boat is silly. Donald drives around the boat, Mickey is literally the Mayor, etc etc. Secondly, the provide context to a lot of the world building and story. Losing that magic is literally lost and part of the point of Toontown. Secondly, the whole goal of Toontown was to show you can live in a world with classic and iconic Disney characters, that was literally the point of the game. Most people already know this but I understand it's not nessecarily brought up a lot these days, but it's important to know the game's roots. Many of the models from Toon Tag were carried over into Toontown, like the classic character's models (with the exception of Mickey and Minnie who recieved modifications, and Donald who was later replaced with different models), the fountain, the Toon Hall, Donald's boat, literally everything. This would be the foundation of Toontown and the building blocks of the game. They were there before any other Toon was, in the form of Toon Tag, a game at Walt Disney's Epcot where you played tag as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The Disney characters are probably the most important Toons in Toontown. So I'm going to give my points and also give counterarguments to some frequently used points as to why the Disney Characters are not in TTR even though I believe they should.įor starters, let me bring up my case.
